😊

Well, another week has come and gone. Life is fantastic here in Illinois!

So, last month cute little Elise got baptised and wanted to invite her friends so she took an invitation over to her neighbor, Guy. On the invitation it said that she would be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. So Guy looks up the name of the church online and finds Mormon.org. through Mormon.org he starts to read the Book of Mormon before the Baptism. He comes to the Baptism and feels the spirit. We met him at the Baptism and he says thay he "knows all all about the Jacobites and the Zoramites" and asks if he could have a copy of the Book of Mormon! He also told us he thinks it's great that we are out doing missionary work and he wonders why most churches don't!

So time goes on and his neighbors continue to follow up and see how he is and he likes the Book of Mormon so much and he also wants to read the Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price, so he buys himself a quad! He is currently reading in Alma chapter 34. He used to teach the Theology of the Old testament so he really knows the scriptures. He told us that reading the Book of Mormon just makes him feel better. He also says how it's been his life goal to comfort those who need comfort and that he believes in how we view God and wow could he be more prepared?

Nope.

Guy Scaggs gives us hope. He's technically not even an investigator yet but he will be!

We had to drop Roberta and Jim this week. It was really hard. But they will come around.

We also had to drop Lianne and we haven't been able to get in contact with selina again, so there goes our teaching pool. But Guy will hopefully be an investigator soon!

Love you all,
Sister Corbett

1. I held a really cute kitty this week. But I liked it a lot more than it liked me. A lot like my relationship with the people of Washington.
2. We made this well for the ward Christmas party. They went ALL OUT. People would reach into the well to get their water bottles.
3. Are we in Morton, or are we in BETHLEHEM? I can't tell
4. Biggest tender mercy ever - last Monday we were running into Wallmart for a few last minute things and the Bell ringer stopped us and asked if we were Mormons. We got talking and he said he was a member in BOURBONNAIS but has now moved to Peoria. I talked with his son and had a lesson set up with him before I left! He knew the Beyers and Brother Anderson and I just love Bourbonnais.

Hot hot hot hot chocolate

This week was super duper busy.

We taught TWO investigator lessons this week. So that's progress.

The first lesson we taught was to Leanne. Sister Orchard and I found her tracting and we were able to do some service for her. She took us to Taco Bell to thank us and we taught her the Restoration. She has some issues accepting one true church but we should be meeting with her again today, so hopefully she has been reading and praying about the Book of Mormon.

We also taught Selina. We also found her tracting. This was the second time we were able to teach her and it went pretty well. She wants some time to read the Book of Mormon.

Roberta and Jim came to their first church event (in illinois) this week. There was the community festival of Nativities. They were able to go with their fellowshippers and it was just good to see them in the church building. Slowly but surely they are making progress. Roberta was able to reach out to her Aunt who is a member in Minnesota and let her know she is meeting with us. Hopefully Jim will start reading the Book of Mormon soon....

So that's how this week went!

1. Day #1 we gave some food and a Book of Mormon to this woman who has apparently been by the Naperville Stake Center for quite some time. It was so tender to see her light up.
2.Day #2 we gave drink to the thirsty as we gave out free hot chocolate to people at the Washington Square! We also handed out two Book of Mormons! So that's better than nothing! (For day #3 we sang a song and sent it to a recent convert)
3. Community Festival of Nativities
4. Light the World! These trees were temple square quality
5. My super official permit to hand out hot chocolate in Washington haha

Thankful

Here's some things that happened this week...

•we went to TOLUCA. Our area is pretty large and it's about an hour away and so sisters don't make it there every often because there is no one in the areabook there really. But we went and met Michelle and Jose. Sister Winkelman and I weren't sure what we were walking into when we walked into their apartment because it was pretty smoky and there were a few animals and just a typical Illinois apartment really, but Michelle said she had been researching on Mormon.org the night before so that's Awesome! We aren't sure how interested they are, but even if they don't progress much we were led to a few other potentials in Toluca that were pretty nice!
•We ran over a possum. Rip.
•We --almost-- ran over a pheasant
•Someone called the cops on us in Metamora because they didn't like us. The cops asked us to leave the area, so we did. After we gave the officer a card.
•Betty got baptized in Peoria. She was investigating with the sisters here before she moved last transfer. She is super cute and was so HAPPY as she came up out of the water.
•We are still teaching Jim and Roberta. They are coming along. Slowly.
•Our Zone invited 140 people to church so we celebrated with a Thanksgiving Feast!
•Sister Winkelman and I are staying together for another 6 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Sister Corbett
